NAIDOC WEEK 2021

‘liyini milaythina rrala’ meaning ‘Singing Country Strong’ was live streamed across the whole of the Tasmanian State Service on Friday 9 July 2021.

The concept behind this NAIDOC celebration draws on the ‘strength of song’. The 2021 NAIDOC Week theme was ‘Heal Country’ and what better way to ‘Heal’ than having an opportunity to come together to share in the power of song.

“Song and music are integral parts of who we are as Aboriginal, First Nations Peoples; Our spirituality is deeply tied to our landscape (Country), our family and our community. Country is inherent to our Identity”.

The Song that brought us all together was ‘liyini milaythina rrala’ meaning ‘Singing Country Strong’. We were fortunate enough to get special permission from song writer Theresa Sainty and producer Jodi Haines to share the song as part of our NAIDOC Week celebration.

Vocalists: Jodi Haines, Kartanya Maynard, Merinda Sainty and Jude Reid led us through the song.
