NAIDOC WEEK 2020

"Always Was, Always Will Be" recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week with a ‘Sea of Hands’ at 15 Murray Street, Hobart.

A ‘sea of hands’ is often presented in some form at Aboriginal events. The 'sea of hands' was used to highlight the 2020 NAIDOC theme of ‘Always Was Aways Will Be’, with individual hands decorated by State Service employees, their families and friends using paint, pens, collage, and natural items such as leaves, seeds and shells.

While the main installation took place at 15 Murray Street, employees across the State participated either by creating hands to be included in the installation, or creating their own installation within their workplace.

The 'Sea of Hands' installation provided a colourful addition to the mezzanine balcony of 15 Murray Street, making it visible to everyone entering the Executive Building.
