Australian Gambling Research Organisations
Australian Gambling Research Centre
The Australian Gambling Research Centre (AGRC) is situated within the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS), a statutory research agency of the Australian Government. The AGRC research program reflects the Gambling Measures Act 2012, embodies a national perspective, and provides a strong family focus consistent with the AIFS Research Directions.
The AGRC provides high quality, evidence-based publications and resources to increase the capacity and capability of policy-makers, researchers, and professionals working in the gambling sector.
Gambling Research Australia
Gambling Research Australia (GRA) was a partnership between the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments to initiate and manage a national gambling research program. It was established as an initiative of the Ministerial Council on Gambling. The Council has formally ceased and the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by all gaming/gambling ministers ceased on 30 June 2014. Since that time all commissioned but incomplete research reports were completed and published on the GRA website.
Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation Research Program
The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation (VRGF) helps to prevent and reduce harm from gambling in the Victorian community. The VRGF is also responsible for fostering greater understanding and awareness of responsible gambling in the wider community. Part of the VRGF's role is to build understanding of gambling harm through the VRGF Research Program. Each year the VRGF identifies new areas of gambling to research and in addition to awarding research grants, commissions major research projects to learn more about how gambling affects the community.
