Have your say on the Trauma Capability Framework

The Tasmanian Government is committed to building a responsive, compassionate workforce and services that meet the needs of Tasmania’s diverse communities.

As an important next step, the Trauma Capability Framework (the framework) has been developed to strengthen trauma responses at all levels of service delivery in the Tasmanian public sector.

About the framework

Informed by expert consultation, the framework aims to establish a consistent approach to building trauma-informed capability in the Tasmanian public sector. It is centred on a vision where every Tasmanian feels supported and understood.

At the heart of the framework is the Trauma-Informed Model, which outlines a set of key principles, goals, ways of working, and personal actions. Together, these elements are intended to guide and support the transformation.

The framework is supported by a number of companion resources to help implementation and support change. Currently, these include the:

  • Our Language Guide
  • Understanding Trauma Guide
  • Transforming Selves: Ways of Working and Capability Matrix

This initiative is a cornerstone of the response to Recommendation 19.2 of the Commission of Inquiry and complements broader reforms underway in Tasmania, including the Change for Children strategy and the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Framework.
