Chris Symonds
Chair, Premier's Disability Advisory Council
Chris is living with Kennedys Disease a progressive Motor Neuron Disease without cure or treatment.
He has been married to Fayellen for 39 years and has four children Nicole, Michael, Claire and Bronwen.
Chris left work as a senior manager at Caterpillar in Burnie in 2010 and now focuses on family, community organizations, sailing, and self-managing his National Disability Insurance Plan.
Chris volunteers his time to a number of Boards throughout Tasmania, also the Wynyard Yacht Club where he is currently Secretary and Unit Commander for Wynyard Volunteer Marine Rescue.
Chris is a sailor since 10 years of age now competes successfully at World, European, National and State level in the Hansa 303 class of yacht.
A focus on high quality health, a positive attitude, combined with high moral values, and respect for others are key attributes.
