Lauren Cannell

Lauren Cannell commenced a career as a police officer in 1998 and progressed to the rank of Senior Sergeant.

Lauren is an avid distance runner and cyclist.  After recovering from a brain haemorrhage in 2013, Lauren was struck by a vehicle while cycling in 2015.  These incidents resulted in physical impairment, persistent pain and PTSD. Lauren moved to a non-operational role within the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management (DPFEM) where she developed policy relating to people with disability and became a wellbeing peer and advocate for her colleagues with disability.

Lauren is currently undertaking the role of Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator for DPFEM and hopes to continue to develop and improve the service delivery and internal practices of DPFEM for people with disability.

Lauren still enjoys keeping fit and setting physical challenges to fundraise for various charities and community projects.

Lauren has lived primarily on the North West Coast and now resides near Launceston.
