Young Aboriginal Leaders Scholarship Program

2023 Young Aboriginal Leaders Scholarship Program

The Young Aboriginal Leaders Scholarship Program (the Program) has been developed to encourage young Aboriginal people living in Tasmania to follow their cultural, career or leadership goals. This Program aims to support recipients to become future leaders and role models for other young Aboriginal people.

Applications open from 4 August 2023 and close at 5pm on 15 September 2023.

Scholarship amount

Up to $5,000 per scholarship is available from a total pool of $10,000. There is no minimum amount.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• be between 15 – 29 years of age
• be a current resident of Tasmania, and
• meet the Tasmanian State Government requirements of Eligibility for Tasmanian Government Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs and services.

How to apply

Write an application of 1,500 words (maximum) responding to the following:

1. Outline the activity or leadership opportunity this scholarship will assist you with
2. Tell us about your involvement in your community, including participation in past and current events
3. Describe how you intend to use your new skills to benefit you and/or your community
