Private Victor John Gray
Private Victor Gray grew up at Fern Tree, Tasmania, and had an adventurous spirit. He loved riding his motorcycle on Huon Road and travelled to New Zealand.
Private Gray enlisted for World War One on 15 July 1916 and served with the 12th Battalion in France. He was mortally wounded during the preparations for the attack of the Hindenburg Line at Bullecourt and died of wounds, resulting from a compound fracture to the skull, on 10 April 1917, age 24.
Private Gray's brother, Charles Gray, was killed five days later at Lagnicourt.
Private Gray was researched for the Frank MacDonald Memorial Study Tour 2016 by Sophie-Marie Young, of Taroona High School.
