The Tasmanian Government wants all Tasmanians to thrive, be strong and resilient through cohesive, inclusive, and supportive communities. We recognise that there are people across the State who need our support.

Our Food Relief to Food Resilience Strategy 2021-24 encourages collaboration across government and the community to help meet demand for food relief and increase the resilience of communities to prepare, store and have access to healthy and nutritious food.

The Food Relief to Food Resilience Action Plan 2023-25 details how the Tasmanian Government, in partnership with the food relief and community services sector, will work together to practically release our vision. The Food Relief to Food Resilience Action Plan 2023-2025 details our additional $2 million investment in initiatives to support food security. This funding builds on our investment of $9 million since 2018 towards the delivery of food relief across Tasmania.

The consultation revealed that bold, innovative and targeted actions were needed to respond to local needs. This feedback has strongly informed the development of the Action Plan.

The Action Plan details a commitment to continue delivering food relief to Tasmanians who need it most, whilst also building food resilience in local communities towards a sustainable future. The focus is on the Strategy’s three priority areas: Integrated Support, Place-based approaches, and Data and Information.

The implementation of the Strategy and Action Plan will be led by the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the Food Relief to Food Resilience Steering Committee. A final report will be published on this website following conclusion of the Strategy and Action Plan.
