PURPOSE OF THE GRANTS

If an individual has been impacted by the recent August/September 2024 floods and storms, they may be eligible for one or more of the Recovery and Restoration Grants.

Recovery and Restoration Grants provide assistance to meet needs in the medium to longer term for people who, because of an eligible natural disaster have incurred substantial property damage and/or substantial loss of personal household items essential for daily living and/or are unable to reside in their principal place of residence due to damage incurred. Please refer to the fact sheet for more detailed information of the grant.

TYPES OF RECOVERY AND RESTORATION GRANTS AVAILABLE

Renters and homeowners who live in impacted areas may be eligible to receive one or both of the following:

Please note that the maximum amount of each grant is $11,450. It is possible for an applicant to receive one or both of the grants.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY?

Eligibility for Recovery and Restoration Grants is assessed against the following criteria:

  • within the income threshold (see table below)
  • must have a Proof of Identity
  • Residential Status (within a declared area)
  • Insurance status (no or inadequate insurance)

This grant will be available for 3 months, closing at 2pm on 11 December 2024.

Repair and Restoration Grant

Low-income homeowner and occupier of the principal place of residence

Assists with the re-establishment of a person’s principal place of residence to a basic minimum standard

May be applied to repair, rebuild, clean up or re-establishment costs

Up to $11,450 calculated on the cost of restoration activities.

Eligibility - Income

The Income Threshold is based on Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card threshold limits but also provides for an expanded safety net to include recipients of low income most likely to experience difficulty.
