Multicultural Community Festivals Small Grants Program

Status: Closed - List of Successful Applicants below

The Tasmanian Government has committed to establishing a new Multicultural Community Festivals Small Grants Program (Grants Program) providing $80,000 over two years, 2024-25 and 2025-26.

In 2024-25, the Grants Program’s focus is supporting new and emerging culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Purpose

The Grants Program aims to:

  • bring Tasmanians together to celebrate the cultures of our diverse communities and share traditions;
  • increase understanding of the diverse cultures within the Tasmanian community in which we live and improve social cohesion; and
  • strengthen partnerships between culturally and linguistically diverse communities and local governments.

Funding Arrangements

In 2024-25, the Grants Program will provide a maximum funding pool of $40,000.

Eligible applicants applied for funding of between $500 to $5,000 to hold festivals or events in Tasmania that celebrate significant cultural traditions with a focus on new and emerging culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

This is a partnership program, so communities had the opportunity of liaising with local councils to increase the resources they seek to run festivals and events. In the application for funding, organisations had to demonstrate a partnership between the organisation and a local council.

The projects must be completed by 30 June 2026.
