International Women's Day Small Grants Program 2023

Applications open on 13 November 2022 and close at 2:00 pm on Friday, 23 December 2022. Late applications will not be accepted.

It is intended that applicants be notified of the outcome of their application by 8 February 2023.


The Tasmanian Government recognises the valuable contribution of Tasmania’s women and is committed to gender equality. To celebrate and promote the contribution of Tasmanian women to their communities, the Tasmanian Government is funding a competitive grant program to support International Women’s Day (IWD) events run by local organisations across the State.

Organisations can apply for the grant to hold events that:

  • support women’s equality, including women’s economic security, leadership and participation, safety, and/or health and wellbeing.
  • celebrate and promote the contribution of Tasmanian women to their communities.

Events Guidelines

The Department of Premier and Cabinet strongly encourages organisations to ensure International Women’s Day events and activities are welcoming and accessible to people with disability. The most effective way of ensuring access for everyone is to think about access at the earliest planning stages of an event. Events should take place on or around International Women’s Day (March 8). The Department of Premier and Cabinet may, at its sole discretion, consider exceptions to this timeframe.

All applicants funded under this Grants Program must comply with Tasmania’s COVID-19 requirements and restrictions for events in place at the time of their event, please refer to Tasmania's Framework for COVID-19 Safe Events and Activities for more information.

Funding Available

The total funding pool is $20,000. Organisations can apply for grant of up to $2,000 for each application. All funding is subject to terms and conditions, which will be outlined in the Grant Agreement with successful applicants.

Eligible Organisations

Applicants who can apply must:

  • be an organisation that delivers community support, services and/or programs to Tasmanian’s; or
  • a local government authorities (councils); or
  • parents and friends associations; or
  • be incorporated organisations; or
  • not-for-profit organisations; or
  • not-for-profit companies registered under company law.

Organisations that are a current grant recipient from the Department of Premier and Cabinet, or previously with Department of Communities Tasmania (Communities Tasmania) and whose reporting and acquittal obligations have not been met, will not receive funding until those obligations have been resolved.
