Executive Council Secretariat

The Executive Council consists of the Premier and Ministers of Government and is presided over by the Governor whose role is to monitor the legality and procedural regularity of government.

In addition, the Secretariat is responsible for a range of constitutional processes including proroguing and recalling Parliament and the of swearing-in of Ministers of Government.

An Executive Council Explanatory Note is required to advise Cabinet about matters which require Executive Council approval but have not previously been considered by Cabinet. More information on Explanatory Notes can be found in Section 12.1 of the Cabinet Handbook. For information, please refer to the Cabinet Office.
