Our Legislative Responsibilities
The Office of the Secretary is also responsible for preparing and monitoring the Department’s annual legislation program, collaborating with other agencies on some whole-of-government legislation (such as the Right to Information Act and the Personal Information Act).
The Office of the Secretary is responsible for managing the following Acts for the Department:
- Acts Enumeration Act 1947;
- Public Interest Disclosures Act 2002;
- Parliamentary (Disclosures of Interests) Act 1996;
- Constitution Act 1934;
- Parliamentary Privilege Acts 1858, 1885, 1898 and 1957;
- Orders made under the Administrative Arrangements Act 1990 (for Ministerial portfolio or agency changes); and
- Orders made under the State Service Act 2000 (for Head of Agency appointments and agency restructures).
