Scott McKeown, Deputy Director of Public Health, Department of Health (Liaison member)

Scott is a Public Health Physician and General Practitioner with over 20 years experience in the Tasmanian health system in multiple settings including the Office of the Minister for Health, the state government public health unit, non-government organisations, an Aboriginal Community Control Health Organisation, and other primary care and academic research organisations.

Scott has a detailed understanding of the determinants of health and the opportunities to improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequities utilising population health aproaches in the Tasmanian community and health system, including cross-sectoral approaches.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Scott was also in the role of State Operational Liaison Advisor (Public Health) providing advice to the State Controller in the State COVID-19 Control Centre.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland and a Master of Public Health from the University of New South Wales. Scott is a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (Royal Australasian College of Physicians) and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
