Update on wages offer

Dear colleagues

I wish to provide an update on the government’s recent wages offer to Public Sector Unions.

The Government proposed a one-year rollover agreement providing a 3 per cent salary increase, with no changes to existing conditions.

This offer was above expected cost of living increases for 2026 and ensured State Service employees received their pay rise as anticipated. This was a strong offer to support staff with a one-year increase, while longer term agreements were negotiated.

After consideration, public sector unions have chosen not to accept this offer.

We will now return to the bargaining table to work in good faith to reach an agreement as soon as possible.

I understand that this uncertainty can be challenging and I want to thank you for your patience and continued professionalism as we work through this process together.
