Dear colleagues,
Today, the Tasmanian Government provided wage offers to unions covering several major public sector agreements.
These offers will remain open until 5:00 pm on 13 November 2026, with most salary increases anticipated to take effect from 1 December 2026, if agreement is reached before this date.
Offers have been provided for the following agreements:
- Firefighters
- Nurses and Midwives
- Medical Practitioners
- Correctional Officers
- Educational Facility Attendants
These offers follow extensive and genuine engagement between lead negotiators, their teams and unions throughout the negotiation process. Lead negotiators have carefully considered the claims advanced by unions and worked constructively to address matters raised during discussions.
These offers are for three-year agreements with salary increases of 3 per cent in year one, 2.75 per cent in year two and 2.5 per cent in year three along with State Service standard leave and conditions.
The offers also include salary adjustments to base salary during the life of the agreement that see further uplifts in salaries and other improvements to terms and conditions.
These offers represent fair, affordable and sustainable outcomes that recognise the valuable contribution of our hardworking employees while ensuring we can continue to deliver essential services for the Tasmanian community.
Importantly, the offers also address issues specific to individual occupational groups and support modern, responsive workplaces that meet the evolving needs of both employees and agencies. They reflect the government's commitment to a strong and capable State Service whilst maintaining fiscal responsibility.
I encourage unions to give these comprehensive offers genuine consideration and make them available to employees for balloting.
I thank everyone who has contributed to this process including union representatives, delegates, agency staff and negotiating teams. Our objective remains clear: to see our hardworking State Service employees receive their well-deserved pay increases when anticipated in December and January.
I will continue to keep you informed as negotiations progress.
Regards,
Kathrine Morgan-Wicks
Head of the State Service
