Kathrine Morgan-Wicks, Head of the State Service, message to all staff

TSS wage negotiations update (02 Apr 2026)

Hello everyone

Throughout March I regularly updated you about the intensive and genuine discussions with unions across multiple Tasmanian State Service wage agreements. This was part of my commitment to do all that I could to support the shared aim of reaching agreement by 31 March.

The date of 31 March was significant to ensure we could deliver salary backpay across all agreements that had an anticipated salary increase from the first full pay period on or after (ffppooa) 1 December 2025.

This also allowed time for unions to work through their internal processes and to take the offers to their members.

Today I wanted to inform you that I have received confirmation from unions that the following agreements are in the process of being considered by members. Many ballot processes are either being completed today or immediately after the Easter break:

  • Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement (PSUWA) (three years)
  • Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority Staff Agreement (three years)
  • Dental Officers Agreement (three years)
  • Radiation Therapists Agreement (three years)
  • AWU Public Sector Union Wages Agreement (three years)
  • Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement (three years)
  • Ambulance Tasmania Industrial Agreement (18 months)
  • State Growth Engineers Industrial Agreement (three years)

Voting in relation to the Teachers Agreement (three years) will begin after the Easter break.

I thank unions and all employee representatives for their constructive engagement to work towards agreements that are fair, reasonable and affordable and deliver positive improvements for staff and our workplaces.

What this means for you

Following the Easter break I will be in a position to affirm the results and next steps for our hardworking State Service employees.

It is also very important that, if accepted, these agreements will introduce a number of new and improved conditions for employees. I look forward to outlining more in future updates.

Your Head of Agency will also keep you informed on agency-specific areas of interest. The Tasmanian State Service negotiations website will also continue to be updated.

I wish you all a wonderful and safe Easter break.

Kind regards
Kath
