  • Grants of up to $50,000 for permanently-wired Direct Current (DC) electric vehicle charging stations.
Applications close at 5.00 pm on Friday 10 September 2021.

Visit the TCCO website for all the details, including the ChargeSmart guidelines and application forms.

Review of Tasmania's climate change legislation

The four-yearly statutory independent review of Tasmania's climate change legislation, the Climate Change (State Action) Act 2008 (the Act) is well underway.

The independent review has been informed by extensive consultation with community, industry and business, with a focus on options to revise Tasmania's emissions reduction target.

In addition to meetings and online forums, consulting firm Jacobs also called for written submissions. Fifty four submissions were received and, with permission, 48 have been published on the TCCO website. Thank you to everyone who attended a forum, or took the time to prepare a written response to the Discussion Paper.

Next steps

The Tasmanian Government is committed to introducing an amended Act to Parliament this year.

New climate change action plan

Tasmania's whole-of-government climate change action plan, Climate Action 21, concluded in June. The final Climate Action 21 Report Card 2021, summarising the achievements of the past five years, has been published on the TCCO website.

Consultation

Development of the next climate change action plan is underway. Consultation with community, industry, business and Tasmanian Government departments took place earlier this year, in conjunction with consultation on the independent review of the Act.

In addition to the one-on-one meetings, sector-specific and public workshops, TCCO held workshops with the Premier's Youth Advisory Council; delegates at Greening Australia's Tasmanian Youth Climate Leaders Program Conferences; and the Commissioner for Children and Young People (CCYP) Ambassadors.

You can read the summary of the CCYP Ambassadors consultation feedback, or watch the short Youth Climate Leaders 2021 video to learn more.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to join a workshop or to make a written submission. We received 41 submissions and, with permission, 38 have been published on the TCCO website. We've also published a summary of what we heard in those submissions.

Next steps

The Tasmanian Government is committed to releasing a new climate change action plan this year.
