Kathrine Morgan-Wicks, Head of the State Service, message to all staff

Managing Positions in the State Service (11 Feb 2025)

I am pleased to inform you about the updated Managing Positions in the State Service (MPSS).

Together with my Head of Agency colleagues, I have been considering our strategic workforce priorities to better respond to the increasing demands for services in the Tasmanian community while supporting our workforce. This involves ensuring we have a workforce that is the right size and shape, in the right place and equipped with the right tools and resources to deliver our important services to the community of Tasmania.

As part of our commitment to youth employment and increasing opportunities in Tasmania, I have considered and adjusted the maximum payment for Workforce Renewal Incentive Programs. This change reflects the importance of reprofiling jobs, addressing the challenges of how we conduct business, deliver services to the Tasmanian community and maintain the State Service as a great place to work. This includes supporting broader employment strategies, such as youth employment, building on the gains we have made through diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, and addressing skill shortages across for the benefit of the broader Tasmanian community.

Further details are available on the State Service Management Office's Managing Positions in the State Service webpage

Your Head of Agency and/or Human Resources area will have further supporting information relevant to your specific Agency consideration of the program.

I am looking forward to the year ahead as we work together to deliver real change in so many areas of important reforms and meeting Government commitments. Thank you for your continued dedication to serving the Tasmanian community and making the State Service a great place to work.
