The Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania is calling for Expressions of Interest to fill a Chairperson vacancy on the Tasmanian Racing Appeal Board.

The Tasmanian Racing Appeal Board (TRAB) is an independent body established by the Tasmanian Government under Section 71 of the Racing Regulation and Integrity Act 2024. The Board hears and decides appeals against certain decisions made by racing stewards, Tasracing, registered race clubs, and other matters specified in the Act.
Essential requirements for the position include:
- Be an Australian legal practitioner with at least five years' standing.
- Proven high level relationship skills.
- High developed communication skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of sporting tribunal processes.
- Understanding of procedural fairness, with the ability to critically assess evidence and make findings of fact.
- Knowledge of the racing industry, or the ability to quickly develop that knowledge.
