Dear Colleagues,
On the 24th of November 2023, Tasmanian Public Servants have an opportunity to express their support for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Children by participating in a walk commencing on the lawns at Parliament House lawns. This walk signifies the commencement of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, contributing to the global campaign to eradicate violence against women and girls.
Since 2015, this walk has been a significant annual event in Tasmania, offering a platform to demonstrate the Government's dedication to eradicating violence against women and families on a broader scale.
This year, the walk will start and conclude on the lawns of Parliament House in Hobart, and it will be followed by a number of guest speakers whose details will be confirmed shortly.
We encourage all participants in the walk to wear the colour orange, a choice aligned with UN Women, symbolising a brighter and more optimistic future free from violence against women and girls.
I encourage all those available to join the walk on Friday, the 24th of November, between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM (see invitation here), and collectively contribute to shaping a Tasmania where everyone experiences safety, equality and respect.
Best wishes,
