Appointment: Secretary Department of State Growth (11 Oct 2023)

Dear colleagues

Earlier this year, the Premier announced that a recruitment process would commence to recruit to the position of Secretary, Department of State Growth. I chaired the Panel which led the nation-wide search with Ms Ginna Webster, Secretary of the Department of Justice; Mr Darren Hine, Former Commissioner of Police and Secretary of the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Services and Mr Jim Betts, Secretary of the Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and the Arts joining me on the panel.

I am very pleased to be able to announce today that Craig Limkin was the successful candidate.

I know many of you will know Craig in his capacity as Associate Secretary and Deputy Secretary, Policy and Delivery in the Department of Premier and Cabinet, and in particular for his leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and more recently, supporting the Commission of Inquiry response.

The Department of State Growth play a vital role in supporting diverse and sustainable economic growth and facilitating the creation of job opportunities for the benefit of our community. Craig brings with him a wealth of experience in the executive public sector management, including in Health and Treasury in New South Wales, and will lead the Department of State Growth in its responsibilities to serve the Tasmanian community.

Craig will commence in the role on Tuesday 31 October 2023.

I also take this opportunity to thank Gary Swain for Acting in this role over the last few months. Gary’s leadership has been exemplary, and I thank him for his work in this role.
