Premier reappointment (07 Aug 2025)

Hello everyone

I can advise that the Electoral Commissioner has returned the writs to Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania.

Yesterday, Her Excellency determined that she would reappoint Premier Jeremy Rockliff as the incumbent to remain in office in order for confidence to be tested in the House of Assembly.

I am advised that Premier Rockliff and his Cabinet will be sworn in at a ceremony at Government House early next week and Parliament will then sit on Tuesday, 19 August 2025.

While the ordinary business of government and its administration of government continues, the caretaker period also continues at this time.  I will provide further advice following the swearing in next week.
