Hello everyone
Today on this National Day of Mourning my thoughts are with the victims of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack, as well as their families, loved ones and friends.
The Tasmanian State Service joins Australians from all walks of life paying tribute to the 15 victims today, gathering in unity and remembrance.
The Department of Premier and Cabinet has issued advice for flags on all Tasmanian Government buildings to be flown at half-mast to honour the victims.
The Tasman Bridge in Hobart and the Town Hall in Launceston will join landmarks across Australia that will be lit tonight as Tasmania’s capital city and regional pillars of light. Devonport’s paranaple centre and Launceston’s Civic Square and Riverbend Seaport Bridge will also be lit.
One minute of silence to honour those impacted will be observed today at 7.01pm and you can share a condolence message through the Bondi Beach condolence book.
Keep checking in with your colleagues, offering a listening ear and giving yourself space as you need it. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers confidential support services, with details available on your agency’s intranet. A Tasmanian Lifeline (1800 984 434) can also support you and other Tasmanians when needed.
As we continue to come to terms with what happened last month, I again thank you for serving the Tasmanian community with kindness, care and integrity.
Kind regards,
Kath
