Hello everyone
As we approach the end of the financial year on 1 July, I want to take a moment to extend my deepest thanks to each and every one of you across the Tasmanian State Service.
This time of year always brings significant demands, and 2025 has been no exception. The incredible effort across agencies throughout the budget cycle and estimates processes has been nothing short of remarkable. This good work will not be lost. While we are in the caretaker period, we will utilise our work in our preparations to brief and support an incoming government. I would also like to recognise the work of our finance teams in preparing for the end of financial year and ensuring our suppliers, which many are Tasmanian businesses, are paid.
I want to extend a wider thank you for your adaptability in transitioning into the caretaker period. I am confident our preparation for an incoming government will be well received and meet the needs of an incoming government, as well as the expectations of the Tasmanian community.
Beyond these milestones, the work you do every day is what truly defines us as the Tasmanian State Service. Whether it is delivering essential services, driving transformational programs or supporting projects that improve the lives of Tasmanians, our work is not just about policy or process: it is about people. As State Servants we are all connected through the human stories that drive our commitment to the Tasmanian community.
This has been especially front of mind following recent events that remind us of the profound responsibilities many of you carry and the personal sacrifices made in service to our fellow Tasmanians. Last Friday, I was honoured to attend the Police service to commemorate the life of Constable Keith Smith. I will never forget the heartbreaking guard of honour formed by our Tasmania Police and Emergency Services colleagues to offer a final farewell. I would like to remind you to reach out to your agency’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider if you need support or just to talk.
Thank you for your dedication, service and your continued commitment to the people of Tasmania. I am proud to stand with you.
Kind regards,
