OCTOBER 2021

Welcome to the October 2021 edition of the Tasmanian Climate Change Office’s Newsletter. We’re always interested to hear about your climate change adaptation or emissions reduction projects, events and ideas, so please feel free to send us an email with the details for us to include in future editions or share on Facebook.

Consultation open

Our consultation on the proposed amendments to Tasmania’s climate change legislation is open and we’re looking forward to reading your feedback.

We want to hear from you about proposed amendments to the Climate Change (State Action) Act 2008. We have published a draft Bill to amend the Act, which proposes amendments including setting a target of net zero emissions for Tasmania from 2030. The proposed amendments are in response to the recent independent review of the Act, and the consultation that was held earlier this year.

You can read the draft Bill, and the Tasmanian Government’s response to the independent review, on the TCCO website. Consultation closes at 5.00pm Sunday 14 November 2021.

On the move

We are moving! TCCO is about to become part of Renewables, Climate and Future Industries Tasmania (ReCFIT). In his Budget speech on 26 August 2021, the Premier announced the creation of a new entity, bringing together staff from the Tasmanian Climate Change Office, Renewables Tasmania, and Treasury.

The new entity will be established by the end of October. We will have a new website, but our current website will remain active as we transition to the new one.

We will also have new phone numbers and new email addresses, but our old ones will remain active to make sure you can still find us over the transition period.

We will provide more information as the transition progresses, but please get in touch if you have any questions:
