Learning to lead in local government
The Local Government Learning and Development Framework aims to build skills, capability and support ongoing learning and development for elected representatives. It was developed collaboratively by the Office of Local Government and the Local Government Association of Tasmania and funded by the Tasmanian Government.
The framework is administered and funded by the Local Government Association of Tasmania under arrangements with the local government sector. The Office of Local Government maintains broad oversight of the framework through its compliance, education and policy functions.
The framework provides a range of learning pathways for councillors, including formal learning activities such as online modules and work-based learning opportunities. It also includes sector-based engagement through workshops and communities of practice that enable councillors to build relationships and networks and share knowledge and experience.
