Public Sector Management Program

As of 1 January 2015, the PSM Program will be coordinated and delivered in all capital cities by Queensland University of Technology (QUT). QUT will assume responsibility for all aspects of the program nationally however TTC will work with QUT to promote participation in the program in Tasmania.

What is the PSM Program?

PSM Program logoThe Public Sector Management (PSM) Program is a flexible and dynamic study option catering specifically for mid-level managers in the modern public service. The program has made and continues to make a significant impact on the Australia Public Sector with a 20-year track record of success and over 9000 participants from all tiers of government who have benefited from the program. Participants learn through a contemporary blend of industry relevant approaches to public sector management and the academic rigor of a postgraduate award.

What qualification will I receive?

Those who complete will be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Business (Public Sector Management) from QUT. Articulation agreements have previously been established with a number of universities but these may change in 2015. Please contact the university you are considering for further information.

Who is the program for?

The program is most suited to mid-level and emerging managers at the following levels:

  • State government: Band 5 - 8 (or equivalent)
  • Commonwealth: APS 6 to EL1 (or equivalent)
  • Local Government: supervisors to mid-level managers

You must be sponsored by your employer to be eligible for the program.

How much time does the course require?

The four unit course is delivered over 15 months and is focused around four intensive 3-4 day workshops, plus the completion of a work-based project.
