COVID-19 Update (15 Jun 2020)

To: All Tasmanian State Servants

Dear Colleagues

COVID-19 Update

As you may be aware, late last week the Premier announced that from this Wednesday, 17 June, Tasmania will further ease restrictions in advance of Stage 3 of our Roadmap to Recovery. These announcements were made as we reached the important milestone of no known active cases in Tasmania; a significant achievement and one that we can all be proud of.

From Wednesday, indoor and outdoor gatherings will increase to up to 80 people being mindful of physical distancing and, for indoor venues, the 1 person per 4 square metre rule. In addition the number of visitors to a private residence will also increase to 20 (not including those who reside at the property).

The Premier has also mooted the bringing forward of Stage 3 from 13 July to 26 June 2020 subject to public health advice. Significantly for the State Service, Stage 3 marks the commencement of the transition back to worksites for many of you who are currently working from home. All Agencies are well prepared for this transition with COVID Safety Plans in place from today and training being rolled out to all employees as part of this plan. I encourage you to ensure you are aware of the requirements of your Agency’s plan and to continue to do your part in support of Tasmania’s Roadmap to Recovery by practising physical distancing and excellent personal hygiene.

Buy Something Tasmanian

As we are acutely aware, the economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are immense. Thousands of Tasmanians have lost their jobs and many businesses and industries are facing significant challenges as they navigate out of ‘hibernation’ to a new way of operating.

In response, Brand Tasmania, the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Tasmanian Government teamed up to build the Buy Something Tasmanian website. It’s a simple directory of businesses that are open during the evolving COVID-19 economy making it easy to support Tasmanian businesses, searchable by region, by service, by product, by experience. It’s also a way for all businesses to work on their brand stories, to move into e-commerce, and to create strong relationships with Tasmanian customers.

There are over 1,000 businesses on the site, owned and operated by Tasmanians, with everything from designer products to delicious food and beverages.

With restrictions lifting we are free to explore Tasmania again and tourism operators are adding their listings to the Buy Something Tasmanian campaign Make Yourself at Home. I encourage you all to visit the websites below and support local business as well as start planning your trips, visits and excursions today.
