Employee Surveys

The State Service Management Office (SSMO) coordinates the Tasmanian State Service Employee Survey (the Survey) across all Tasmanian State Service (TSS) agencies. The Survey is provided by Orima Research Pty Ltd.

The 2018 Survey ran from 18 September to 8 October.

What is the Survey about?

The Survey asks all TSS employees and officers about their work and work environment. The Survey is conducted on a confidential and voluntary basis.

The Survey asks questions about a range of topics, including:

  • diversity;
  • employee engagement;
  • workplace health, safety and wellbeing;
  • job satisfaction; and
  • team work.

The Survey also provides TSS employees and officers with the opportunity to contribute their views about accountability, values and principles, work health and safety, as well as how behaviours such as fairness and respect are valued in their workplaces.

This year the Survey includes additional questions about workplace flexibility, development, diversity, and wellbeing. These areas were identified as whole-of-service workforce management priorities following the 2015 and 2016 Surveys.

Why do we have a survey?

The Survey results inform senior leaders about what it is like to work in the State Service, which helps them to improve workforce management at the whole-of-service and agency levels. The results also support agency and whole-of-service planning and reporting activities, including informing the reporting required under the State Service Act 2000.

How do I find out about the Survey results?

Survey reports will be provided to each Head of Agency and they will determine how their results are distributed to their employees.

How do I access the Survey?

On 18 September employees and officers will receive an email from Orima Pty Ltd signed by their Head of Agency, which contains a personalised link to access the Survey.  If you have not received this email, or have deleted it before completing your survey, please contact your Agency's Survey Coordinator to be provided with a link. To find out who your Agency's Survey Coordinator is, contact your Human Resources Unit.
