The Derwent Estuary Monitoring Agreement was signed in August 2000 between the Government of Tasmania, Brighton, Clarence City, Derwent Valley, Glenorchy City, Hobart City and Kingborough Councils, Pasminco Australia Limited, Norske Skog Paper Mills and the Hobart Regional Water Authority. The Partnership Agreement was developed to foster a cooperative approach towards the sustainable environmental management of the Derwent Estuary.
The Derwent Estuary Implementation Agreement was signed in December 2001 between the six councils listed above and the State Government. It is more broad than the Monitoring Agreement and aims to plan, manage and maintain the Derwent Estuary.
The Environmental Management Plan provides an overview of environmental threats to the Derwent Estuary and strategies for reducing these threats.
