Strategic land-use planning

Land-use planning decisions are made in line with councils’ planning schemes, and councils’ planning schemes are developed to reflect the community’s vision for the future of the municipal area.

The development of planning schemes is a critical stage in the land-use planning process.

This process takes into account the view of the public, as well as accounting for public transport needs, public safety and security, air, land and water quality, management of coastal and rural resources, and conservation of natural and cultural heritage.
