Break O'Day partnership agreementPremier David Bartlett and Break O’Day Council Mayor Robert Legge signed the second partnership agreement in February, outlining key priorities for the region over the next 18 months. Some of the priorities highlighted under the agreement include infrastructure, tourism, community wellbeing and recreation. One of the top priorities for action will be to improve access through the main navigation channel in the Georges Bay Barway, which will have important implications for local commercial and recreational fishers and the local economy. Another key priority under the agreement is working together to improve student transport from the local area to colleges in Launceston and investigating the provision of cycleways in St Helens and St Marys. The first partnership agreement was signed in April 2002 and concluded in 2005. Under this agreement, a local tourism plan was developed and the Binalong Bay walkway was upgraded. |
