Board membersThe Minister appoints all Board members, with the exception of the Director of Local Government, which is a statutory position. Two members are appointed on the nomination of the Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT) and the Local Government Managers Australia, Tasmania Branch (LGMA). The current Board members are: Mr Brent Armstrong – Mr Armstrong is the current Chairman of Quadrant Superannuation Pty.Ltd. and Quadrant First Pty.Ltd and a Life Member of LGMA. He is also the Deputy Chair of the Anglicare Board. He is the immediate past General Manager of the Hobart City Council, a position he held from 1997 until his retirement in 2008. Mr Armstrong is a former Director of Local Government Managers Australia (LGMA), Southern Branch President and State Board Member. Mr Armstrong is also past State President of the Tasmania LGMA branch. He began his career in Local Government at Clarence City Council in December 1973 as a clerical officer. Ms Liz Gillam – Member of the Board with local government experience. Formerly Deputy of Local Government and senior policy practitioner at the Local Government Association of Tasmania. Ms Lynn Mason – Member of the Board as the nominee of LGAT. Immediate past President of the Local Government Association of Tasmania. She retired from the Flinders Council as a councillor in 2006 after 23 years. Ms Mason is a Director for the Quadrant Superannuation Fund and Metro Tasmania, and chairs Tasmanian Affordable Housing Ltd. She has been a member of the Tasmanian Community Fund Board since March 2007. Mr Paul West – Member of the Board as the nominee of the LGMA. Current General Manager of the Kingborough Council and former General Manager of the Waratah‑Wynyard Council. Mr West holds an Associate Diploma of Business (Accounting) and a Graduate Certificate in Regional and Local Government Management. Mr West is a national executive committee member of the LGMA and is a board member of the State Branch. He is a member of the National Institute of Accountants. He has worked with the King Island, George Town, Circular Head, West Coast and Burnie City councils. Mr Alistair Scott - Director of Local Government and Deputy Director of the Local Government Division in the Department of Premier and Cabinet. As Director of Local Government, Mr Scott automatically becomes a Member of the Board under provisions within the Local Government Act 1993. |
