Time to Get into Sport

A video promoting positive images of Tasmanians with disability participating in sport and active recreation with the goal of encouraging participation is well worth viewing.

The video entitled “Time to Get into Sport” showcases a range of sports and the enjoyment and value of being involved.

Communities, Sport and Recreation worked with the Association for Children with Disability (Tas) to submit an application and develop a film project promoting opportunities in sport for Tasmanians with disability.

Funding was secured via the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Community Inclusion Capacity Development Fund.

Thank you to the following organisations for being involved:

  • Association for Children with Disability
  • National Disability Insurance Scheme
  • Communities, Sport and Recreation Project Officer, Disability Sport
  • St Giles
  • Physical Disability Sport Tasmania
  • Autism Tasmania
  • Special Olympics Tasmania
  • New Horizons

A special thank you to all the athletes involved who showed enjoyment, skill and dedication to their sport.

The speaking athletes in the video are Lily Kelly, Clayton Johnson, Alan Dengate, Emma Jago, Olivia Fox and Colin Wigg.

To complement the video, the Association for Children with Disability (Tas) has created a resource which lists the many sporting opportunities for people with disability on their website, Finding Your Way.

Enjoy the video and remember it’s time to get into sport!
