Levelling the Playing Field Grants Program

The Tasmanian Government is investing $10 million over two years to the Levelling the Playing Field Grants Program to upgrade sports facilities for girls and women, with funding being distributed across two rounds; one in 2018-19 and one in 2019-20.

The Levelling the Playing Field Grants Program 2019-20 will give higher priority to projects where there is matching dollar-for-dollar funding and there is a funding commitment from the relevant State Sporting Organisation (SSO), and applications from organisations that demonstrate a broad commitment to inclusiveness.

Grants will be provided to projects that develop or improve functional and inclusive facilities for female sport participants, including change rooms, lockers, toilets, shower facilities and amenities, and safety requirements to support access and use of change rooms and amenities.

The program will provide grants of between $15,000 and $1 million per project. This is to provide for both the building of new facilities for women and girls or the upgrading of existing facilities at grounds across the state.

The program is open to local councils and sporting organisations. Sporting organisations will need to demonstrate the support of their relevant SSO.

Expressions of interest are now closed. Successful applicants under the Expression of Interest process will be advised by no later than 30 June of the outcomes and the steps required to proceed to the second stage.

The round is now closed to any new applicants for the 2019-20 round.
