Organisations asked to consider affiliating with National Council of Women.
The National Council of Women of Tasmania Inc (NWC) invite members of other organisations to consider working together with others on similar problems. NWC appreciate that it is difficult to maintain groups, but no matter how strong it is, a combined voice has far more opportunity of achieving change than a single organisation.
For over 120 years the NCW has provided an ‘umbrella group’ in each state and nation and at the International level, as representatives from affiliated groups work together in strength to help women and their families. The NWC has a proud history of achieving a voice for women at the UN and with national and state governments.
Now that most women are engaged in the paid work force and are time poor, it has been increasingly difficult for women’s non-government organisations to survive, let alone appoint delegates to an ‘umbrella’ organisation.
The NCW believes the need for combined action on the issues which affect women and their families is greater than ever, because it is only through combined strength that women have a voice which can achieve needed change. Women’s needs, like equal pay, are otherwise mostly ignored.
If your group needs support for its work and is prepared to support others and work together to achieve change, the NCW asks your organisation to consider affiliating this year, to add your wisdom to combined decisions and action; and to help make a real difference.
Affiliation fees for 2017 are $25 for individual membership; and
$40 for organisational membership covering two delegates.
The National Council of Women meets 10am - midday on the 3rd Wednesday of the month in Hobart Town Hall Conference Room and can also make email contact, Skype and/or conduct short teleconferences for input from those of you who are unable to attend the meeting.
