Coach (Umpires and Officials) Network Forum - Ulverstone

Start Date 21st Aug 2019 6:00pm
End Date 21st Aug 2019 8:00pm

Communities, Sport and Recreation is hosting a free network forum that will provide an opportunity for coaches, umpires, referees and officials, at all levels across sport to meet, network and access guest speakers from the sport sector.

Guest speakers

Guest speakers will be  Darren Close and Tony Peart.

Darren Close

Darren is a Cricket Tasmania Premier League umpire, Women’s Big Bash on field and television umpire, 4th umpire in the Big Bash League with experience umpiring underage internationals and the Cricket Australia Futures League where he actively promotes women’s cricket and advocates for greater opportunities and recognition for female umpires.

Tony Peart

Tony has extensive experience refereeing England’s second tier competition, the Championship. He is currently employed as Football (soccer) Tasmania’s Referees Manager, and is responsible for the development and mentoring of referees at all levels of the game throughout Tasmania.

Tony played an important role in assisting the progress of local referees Claire Green and Emma Hall, who along with Lauren Hargrave, created history in April, as for the first time, a men’s top flight game in Tasmania, was officiated by an all-female refereeing team. Tony is also involved with Australia’s premier football competition, the A-League as an assistant referee.

Who should attend?

We encourage coaches, referees, umpires and match officials to attend this Forum to hear the journey, opinions and experiences from two of Tasmania’s highly regarded officials.

Learn about the strategies Darren and Tony use to develop relationships and communicate with coaches, and the role they play supporting and encouraging their peers along the refereeing and officiating pathway.

Tea/coffee and refreshments will be provided. Register for the Ulverstone Coach (Umpires and Officials) Network Forum and follow the prompts.
