Description

Sustainability in the Pub: Pints and conversations addressing global challenges on our island, one Sustainable Development Goal at a time.

The United Nations set 17 'Sustainable Development Goals', aiming for a better and more sustainable future for all. This event is an opportunity for you to hear from some of Tasmania's local experts about what needs to happen today to achieve these goals by 2030.

Led in conversation by sustainability champion Associate Professor Fred Gale from the School of Social Sciences UTAS, the panel will discuss the impacts of plastic pollution, what is happening at a local level, and what needs to happen to improve resource efficiency - doing more with less.

Panel:

  • Kathy Willis, PhD Candidate, School of Social Sciences, UTAS
  • Michelle Ogulin, Waste and Environment Officer - Strategy, Launceston City Council & Northern Tasmanian Waste Management Group
  • Dr Joanna Vince, Senior Lecturer, Politics and International Relations Program, School of Social Sciences, UTAS
  • Janie Finlay, Councillor, City of Launceston (as part of the closing audience Q&A)
