Tasmanian Climate Action Council

About the Action Council

World experts will help shape Tasmania’s response to climate change through the new Tasmanian Climate Action Council.

The council has been established under the Climate Change (State Action) Act 2008 to provide high-level, independent advice on Tasmania’s response to climate change.

A major focus of the council will be the State’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.

The council is chaired by respected academic Associate Professor Kate Crowley from the University of Tasmania’s School of Government.

Members of the council are high-calibre individuals from across science, business, government and the community. These members bring expertise from many areas of our society that are essential in tackling climate change, including climate science, agriculture, transport, urban design and planning, risk management, business strategy and behaviour change.
