As the State’s biggest employer, the Tasmanian Government is leading by example to understand and manage its greenhouse gas emissions and energy use. Emissions reporting software has been provided by Planet Footprint to generate a wide range of user-friendly reports, from high-level overviews to detailed spreadsheets. These reports are used to determine energy and fuel-use trends and identify projects to achieve savings. Reducing emissions can increase our energy productivity and reduce operational costs, making more funds available for delivery of essential government services.
All Tasmanian Government agencies are taking action on climate change and have developed emissions reduction plans. The plans set out their strategies for reducing emissions, with progress reported in their annual reports. Climate change considerations have also been incorporated into all major purchasing decisions. Read details of the Government's procurement policies.
