Draft Climate Change Action Plan

Embracing the climate challenge: Tasmania's draft climate change action plan 2016-2021

Embracing the Climate Challenge (the draft action plan) outlines the Tasmanian Government’s framework for action through to 2021 to deal with climate change.

Our aspiration is for Tasmania to be:

  • the best in the world in responding to climate change
  • renowned for our renewable energy expertise and our world class science and research
  • prepared to meet the challenges and seize the opportunities climate change presents.

We are focusing on sensible and practical actions to help Tasmania make the most of possibilities, better manage change, and reduce future impacts and costs.

Feedback on the draft action plan

In March and April 2016 we held public forums in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie. We also held targeted roundtables on key topics. Thank you to the 150 (or thereabouts) people who made time to meet with us and share their thoughts.

In addition to these face-to-face events we welcomed written submissions between 18 December 2015 and 25 March 2016. We received 88 written submissions. Thank you to everyone who put their time and energy into making a submission.
