Steve Kons MHA announced the winning entries in Material Girl 2008, Women Tasmania’s International Women’s Day Art Competition, at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery on Tuesday 15 April.

One hundred and two women artists from around the state entered the competition, now in its seventh year.

The winning entries are:

People's Choice Award
Shaz Harrison-Williams, from West Hobart, for Stilettos

Rio Tinto Alcan Two-Dimensional Awards Winner ($1000)
Kate Kelly, from Sandy Bay, for All Things To Everyone

Rio Tinto Alcan Two-Dimensional Highly Commended ($500)
Lucia Rossi, from Hobart, for Armour

Zonta International Three-Dimensional Award Winner ($1000)
Heather Creet, from Woodbridge, for Madame de Pompadour Records the Future

Karin Beaumont, from Margate, for Oceanic Links
