Stilettos

I was putting on my socks this morning the thought crossed my mind, ‘Who made these?’ Was it a young girl who left her village to help her family out of poverty? A young man, one of hundreds who recently lost their lives attempting to return home for the New Year?

We should be creating at a local level sustainable and socially responsible clothes. Ones that are unique to the wearer/maker/region.

There is no Craft Association in Tasmania. Limited teaching of crafts in schools. Craft / Arts removed from tertiary curriculums. Skills lost as our population ages.

Those of us who are left practicing in isolation need practitioners to: -

1. Bring us together in a Craft Forum

2. Foster a funded Tasmanian Craft Association

3. Foster the growth of Craft Arts in Tasmania by education

4. Set up galleries and retail outlets throughout Tasmania.
