Un-Covering Beauty

A theme that has emerged in my work over the past two years is the expression of beauty and the feminine by women .

How do we see ourselves as women, how do we express that?

Are we following trends created by the fashion industry, media and business? In a cooler climate such as Tasmania how does the climate affect the colours we wear and the amount we cover up our feminine body. How much are we prepared to own and express the goddess in her various forms that culture has so richly provided us through the goddesses Aphrodite and Venus.

What are the conservative attitudes, conditions and institutions that have created and control the cover up? The church, the legal system, schools all have their codes of appropriate dress.

How can we be closer to our natural states of showing the beauty of our natural bodies? The female body draped in feathers, shells and flowers represents the woman closer to a natural way of being

How beautiful are the breasts of a woman

Her flowing graceful hair cascading down

Her long and flowing graceful legs

The full roundness of her thighs

Sweet lips and shinning eyes

Reflecting the heart of a woman who loves herself
