Rebecca Brogan - God's unfailing love for me and you

God's unfailing love for me and you

Contemporary society dictates standards that many women feel they must attain in order to be accepted, valued and loved. Unfortunately, for too many women, they're inachievable.

I fought with a vicious eating disorder for 13 years. My insatiable drive for acceptance and my perpetual failure to find it nearly killed me on numerous occasions.

My recovery has been a long process of healing and developing a new mindset. I'm exchanging society's expectations of me with God's valuation of me.

One night, while sobbing over terrible pain from past rejections I cried out to God, "Please show me in my heart that you love me!" Immediately, in my mind, I saw a picture of a foetus. With it came a torrent of God's love pouring into my heart. Instantly I perceived that that foetus was me before I had achieved anything (or failed to achieve anything) to make myself worthy of being loved and valued.

God showed me His personal love for me just as I am and that His love for me is unfailing and unconditional. He showed me my inherent value and worth apart from what I achieve.

He has the same love for all people.
