“I want to cultivate the seed that was placed in me until the last small twig has grown.” Kathe Kollwitz.
At the time of early settlement, Tasmanian women, regardless of age, race or class, had to adapt to an unfamiliar and harsh environment just to survive. This genetic heritage resonates still in their descendants.
Jenny is one of these. A pathfinder, she successfully combined a career with motherhood, embracing each new challenge as an adventure, while still meeting the expectations of society by fulfilling the role of wife and mother.
Now at 61, with her recent Diploma of Art Craft and Design behind her, at last free to follow the career of her choice, she meets the challenge of studying for her Degree in Contemporary Art, achieving alongside others less than half her age, with the strength and determination gifted to her by her pioneering forebears - a contemporary Tasmanian Woman.
