Maggie Aird - Woman in threads

Woman in threads

This piece reflects the complexity of a woman’s life. Today’s woman often has a life that is separated into sections so that she can present as a different person to different groups. But there is a consistency that is her and she ties her life together with many intertwined threads running through the different aspects of her life. These threads are golden but variegated to show the changes.

The issue for today’s woman is to keep those pieces connected as more and more demands are made by our own special communities made up of family, work, social, political, environmental, economic, creative and friendship groups which are reflected in the colours of green, white, gold, silver, red and black.

The threads are looping and twisted, passing through all parts of her life…some touch marginally but every bit is connected and managed carefully to produce the whole person. Some see the whole… some just one part…but she is distinctly that one person.
