Shifting Horizons
Shifting Horizons addresses the contemporary issue of isolation and depression many Tasmanian women, particularly rural woman of all ages face today. The painting depicts light and dark which reflects life with its constantly changing circumstances and challenges.
At 61, I have faced many of life’s challenges. Drawing inspiration from these challenges, I have experienced both the fragility and harshness of life along with the beauty of nature and the open space. I have woven together strands of both into powerful interpretations of resilience and strength. Embarking on my journey of discovery to expand my horizons and push boundaries, I am now completing 3 rd year Bachelor of Contemporary Art at University of Tasmania.
In Shifting Horizons I have endeavoured to direct the viewer to the consideration of the idea of fighting through the darkness to the light and create a sense of connectedness with their environment. Be inspired by nature and the land. Expression through Art is a way of enriching their lives making them interesting, vibrant and exciting women of Tasmania.
